Published: 14/04/2017
This report concludes that child labour in artisanal mining in Mongolia is closely linked with several other problems in the sector such that, unless solutions are sought for the problems of artisanal miners as a whole, it will not be possible to permanently end child labour in artisanal mining. This means that programmes to combat child labour in mining must either address other concerns of the sector at the same time or they should be implemented as part of larger programmes addressing the major issues of the sector (the legal framework, for example).
