planetGOLD Mongolia project organizes next set of trainings in Mandal soum, Selenge aimag
planetGOLD project and the Mongolian Artisanal and Small-scale Mining National Federation are co-organizing a capacity building training on “Business Management in ASGM” and “CRAFT Code” on December 17-19. Miners from Gobi-Altai, Selenge and Khovd aimags are participating in the training.
“Business Management in Artisanal and Small-scale mining” training aims to provide knowledge and understanding on operating an artisanal mining from a business perspective, learning to do business plan, bookkeeping and cost estimation and thus learning to attract investment in ASGM.
The “CRAFT Code” training will introduce the importance of due diligence in the artisanal mining, the needs and advantages of the CRAFT standard, traceability in gold supply chain, and the importance of meeting international market requirements.
The Global Environment Facility is implementing the Planet-GOLD program to help countries that have joined the Minamata Convention on Mercury reduce mercury consumption in artisanal gold mining. The project in Mongolia is implemented by the UN Environment Programme and UNIDO - United Nations Industrial Development Organization, and is executed by Artisanal Gold Council in partnership with Ministry of Environment and Tourism of Mongolia.
