SAM Project Donated Analytical Scales for Gold assaying
2018-01-26

Phase IV of the SAM project is to strengthen stakeholders in the gold supply chain. To achieve this objective, SAM believes that all partners in the supply chain must have the right facilities and expertise to render services to the stakeholders in the supply chain.

PMAID (Precious Metal and Assay Inspection Department) under the MASM (Mongolian Agency for Standard and Metrology) plays a key role in the supply chain by testing and assaying precious metals, a basis for formal sales in the country. The SAM project has been working on improving the capability of the Precious Metal and Assay Inspection Department of Mongolia since 2015.

Last year, the SAM project donated a gold smelting furnace to PMAID. It is good to hear that the furnace is operating and providing service to artisanal miners and traders.

Today, SDC SAM project is handing over two analytical scales to the department which will improve the quality and accuracy of assaying gold and reduce the waiting time for its clients

Mrs. Ilaria Dali, Deputy Director of Swiss Development Agency, Mr. Bilguun, Deputy Director of the Agency National Standards and Measurement Agency of Mongolia participated In this hand-over ceremony.
