The planetGOLD Mongolia project organized an experience-sharing visit of the mercury-free processing facility (MFPS) established by the project in collaboration with the provincial Governor Offices of Gobi-Altai, Khovd, and Selenge provinces on May 28, 2024 in Mandal soum, Selenge province, Mongolia.
Mandal soum of Selenge province is the biggest soum in Mongolia with the largest population and territory, as well as ASGM operations are active.
Officials from the three provinces' governor offices, environment and tourism departments, labor and social welfare offices, and ecological police units took part in the experience-sharing visit.
Participants toured the MFPS, were introduced with its technological process, and learned about its maintenance and considerations.
Furthermore, the planetGOLD Mongolia project provided presentations on the legal environment of the ASM sector as well as experiences with CRAFT Code implementation.
