Uvs province’s Mining Conference takes place in Ulaangom city

Uvs province hosted the Mining Conference from May 8-9, in Ulaangom city, with an aim to introduce the implementation of the policies regarding minerals by the state, legal reforms, and meet with delegates from special license holders of minerals search and usage, while displaying products and service for mining companies, and sign deals and contracts for collaboration.

In attendance of the conference were over 150 people including delegates from the Ministry of Mining and Heavy Industry, local Citizens Representatives, mayor of Uvs province, Uvs province municipality, Sustainable Artisanal mining” project representative, “Rural Complex Development – Partnership” project by GIZ, UNDP delegates, “Land degradation and negative development impact reduction, and protection” project by the GEF, “Introducing citizens involvement in mining decisions” project by WWF, “The working group for extraction transparency” project county mayors, specialists from the respective departments, civil society organizations, friendship, self-employed mineral extractors, special license holder company delegates, products and service providers and suppliers. During the sessions, the participants discussed the collaboration and correlation with the mining sector in operations of government and non-government organizations with a particular focus on the implementation of the law, the quantity of extracted and sold minerals, as well as how it adds to the state budget.
