SAM Project Steering Committee meeting held

The February 1 meeting of the SDC Sustainable Artisanal Mining (SAM) Project’s Steering Committee meeting focused on the findings and recommendations of the project’s mid-term review, 2016 results and achievements, and planning for 2017.The meeting was held at the Ministry of Mining and Heavy Industry’s meeting hall and was presented by SAM Project National Coordinator Altanbagana Bayarsaikhan.

In 2017, the project will collaborate with government and non-government organisations, including the Ministry of Mining and Heavy Industry, the Ministry of Environment and Tourism, the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Finance, the National Human Rights Commission, the National Emergency Management Authority, and the Mineral Resources and Petroleum Authority of Mongolia, the General Agency for Specialised Inspection, as well as local governments and the ASM National Federation on a variety of activities, including building the capacity of member organisations in rural areas, mainstreaming human rights and gender, organising artisanal and small-scale mines, improving the contributions of ASM community to local economies, and creating the ASM Knowledge Hub.
